SCIENCE and POETRY- A Dynamic Duo (Book List!)

Scientists and poets have a lot in common. They both ask questions. They both observe keenly. They both distill experiences to their essential elements. It's not surprising that many fabulous poetry collections for children have a STEM focus. STEM-themed poetry can spark student's interest in specific science topics. Students can also use STEM poetry collections as models to write their own poems to demonstrate synthesis of concepts.  Here are some STEM-themed poetry collections, organized by topic, to boost STEM inquiry with your students.  Click on each image for a Goodreads review of the book.
