POEM SHARE: Children's poets from across the globe presenting their favorite poems for Poetry Month and beyond!
In today's POEM SHARE, Laura Purdie Salas has a riddle for you in the form of haiku! A haiku is a Japanese three-line poem. In Laura's riddle-ku, she doesn't reveal the speaker of the poem. You have to use clues from her description and the illustrations to guess!
Laura's poem is from her poetry collection Lion of the Sky: Haiku for All Season, illustrated by Mercé López. It's filled with more riddle-ku to keep you guessing about the magic and wonder all around you!
Try writing your own riddle-ku. Describe an object or place in a haiku, but don't name it. See if others can guess the answer.
Happy poetry reading and writing, everyone!
