For POEM SHARE, children's poets from across the county present their favorite poems for Poetry Month and beyond. This year, POEM SHARE is back with some greatest hits! Here are some favorite poem videos that explore wishes and dreams.
Alan Katz loves making kids (and grown-ups) laugh with his silly poems and songs. His poem "If" is about the magical word if, which can spark great thoughts and great poems. The surprise twist at the end of Alan's poem is sure to make you giggle.
Road trip time! Travel to Seattle, Washington with Michelle Schaub as she shares her poem "Wishes" about a unique cedar tree that holds thousands and thousands of wishes. You can find "Wishes" in Michelle's poetry collection Leafy Landmarks: Travels with Trees, illustrated by Anne Lambelet. It's a family road trip around the US to visit famous and historic trees. Each tree poem uses a different poetry form.
The next POEM SHARE comes from children's author and teacher librarian, Jolene GuitiƩrrez. Jolene's poem, If . . . Then, challenges readers to think about the relationship between two ideas, which are compared using couplets.
"Calling All Kids," Janet Clare Fagal has a poem for you in this Poem Share video. Her poem is from HOP TO IT: POEMS TO GET YOU MOVING.
Keep dreaming, everyone!
